Merry Christmas: Gratitude, Dickens, and Unwrapping a New Chapter for Just Myself Journals

Christmas invites reflection—on what we have, what we’ve lost, and what truly matters. Charles Dickens captured this beautifully when he wrote:

“Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has many—not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”

This quote reminds us that gratitude is not denial of hardship, but a deliberate focus on what sustains us. Journaling strengthens this focus by making blessings visible and lasting.

A meaningful Christmas journaling practice includes three lists: what you received materially, what you received emotionally, and what you gave. Often, the emotional and relational gifts outweigh anything wrapped in paper.

Special Reveal:

As we look ahead, Just Myself Journals is expanding beyond pages. In the coming year, we will be introducing journaling retreats and workshops designed to support wellness, reflection, and intentional living as a means to promote digital balance with analog living. These programs will integrate journaling with mindfulness, career clarity, emotional well-being, and relational growth.

This is the beginning of a new chapter—one rooted in community, presence, and purpose.
